The evening, which takes part in Yorkshire at King’s Hall, Ilkley on Thursday 14 May is a prequel to the main 2015 Ilkley Literature Festival. David Starkey will take the audience on an exciting journey explaining not only the historical background of the charter, but how it created the modern British constitution and had an international impact - encouraging audiences to see the Magna Carta in a fresh, new context.
Ilkley Literature Festival, now in its 42nd year, is held over seventeen days at the start of October. Supported by Arts Council England and Bradford Metropolitan District Council, the Festival is a charitable company. Each year over 25,000 people attend more than 240 events which take place in a variety of venues, including Ilkley Playhouse, the imposing Craiglands Hotel and the ornate Grade 2 listed, early nineteenth century King’s Hall.
