Gerald Davies, a former rugby union wing who played 46 times for Wales as well as for the British and Irish Lions between 1966 and 1978, is one of a small group of players to have won three Grand Slams. He is currently a board member of the Welsh Rugby Union and its representative on the International Rugby Board and is Chairman of the British and Irish Lions Tour of Australia 2013, having previously managed the British and Irish Lions Tour of South Africa in 2009. In 1994, he wrote and d elivered the successful bid bringing the 1999 Rugby World Cup to Wales.
Gerald’s business career has included 21 years as a non-executive Director of HTV where he became Chairman and he has been a member of numerous boards and committees including over 10 years as Chairman of the Welsh Youth Agency. He is currently the Chairman of the Cardiff Business Club. His commitment to youth work as well as services to Rugby Union earned him a CBE in 2002. For the last 30 years Gerald has been a columnist, writing on rugby matters for The Times.
Gerald is a Fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge from where he graduated and he has been awarded Doctorates from Loughborough University, Swansea University and the University of Glamorgan.
