With champagne and canapes flowing, we heard from Ben Gedney, Ed Rogers and Ed’s wife Sarah gave a speech about their history with the gardens and told us of their move back to his family home in 2004. Since then they have embarked on a series of projects to slowly and sensitively restore the gardens, kick-started by involvement and appearance in the television programme, Country House Rescue.
With full access to explore, guests were able to see first-hand the amazing surroundings from the Rose Walk to the Rock Gardens.
The Gardens are managed by Sarah day to day and she has been instrumental in driving the restoration work and last year attracted nearly 30,000 visitors. Riverhill boasts beautiful gardens, a den building wood, an adventure playground and a yeti, as well as a programme of events which this year includes a production of Romeo and Juliet, a summer lantern workshop and a dog show. You can find all of the events for the year here.
