Point to points draw huge crowds

An enormous crowd flocked to Higham in Suffolk on Easter Saturday to enjoy the point-to-point racing which provided some exciting action despite the small fields owing to the fast ground.

The day was a clean sweep for East Anglian trainers with lead plaudits going to the Turner Family from Ampton who enjoyed a double on the day. Not only did Ed Turner train both winners, he shared a famous day with his wife Rosie as they rode one winner apiece.  Rosie guided odds-on favourite Sa Kaldoun to the horse’s third victory at this fixture in the Mixed Open sponsored by JM Finn & Co where she was presented the trophy by JM Finn Investment Director, Andrew Cumming.

Meanwhile at Hackwood in Hampshire, JM Finn & Co sponsored the best turned out horse in each race, which for the 3rd race, also sponsored by JM Finn & Co, was judged by Simon Tufnell, Investment Director.

Bumper crowds were drawn by the favourable weather forecasts and although the fields were not the biggest, there was still some good racing. Hugo Bedford, Investment Director presented the winning jockey and trainer the trophy for the JM Finn & Co Open Maiden, which was trained by Simon Gilmore.
